New Blog!

I have been using Yahoo 360 for over a year and have enjoyed my blogging. It has been both therapeutic for me and informative for my friends and family who want to keep up with what is going on in my life. But I wanted something that was easier to use and allowed comments by readers without the need for them to register. I think I have found it here.

Taj Mahal - April 18, 2007

4182007-taj.jpgBeautiful but underwhelming are the words I would use to describe the Taj Mahal.

My colleague from the US and I left at 5:30 this morning so we could see the Taj. 8 hours of driving roundtrip to spend about 45 minutes or so walking around one of the wonders of the world was enough for the both of us. Sure it was beautiful but neither of us found it breathtaking, which is what I was kind of expecting. Breathtaking like the Grand Canyon, Angkor Wat or The Great Wall all were for me. Anyway, am glad we made the venture. It was fun, for awhile anyway, to see all the sights along the drive.

Now we have to go work the night shift at our India office…All play and no work makes for a poor boy.

Hot, hot and hot

4172007-hot.jpg India is my first new country this year. In addition to adding a new country of my list of firsts for 2007 is adding a 110+ degrees farenheitt day.

I just took the temperature picture above from http://www.wunderground.global/IN.html and it listed the temperature and humidity at 110 F/ 44C and 25%. !

Brings to mind some of the phrases my dad used to use when describing how hot it was. My favorite was “hotter then a two pecker billy goat”….

Safe arrival in Delhi

4152007-air-india.jpgLast week Air India had not one but two emergency landings at the Delhi airport. The photo above was what appeared in my local English paper, The Shenzhen Daily. Since I was flying to Delhi on the same type of plane, an Airbus 310, on Air India I couldn’t help but hope that these types of things don’t come in 3’s.

Made it safe and sound, although an hour late. As we were approaching the area where people are greeting the inbound passengers my coworker and I decided we would each look at one side of the sea of nameboards. Fortunately, our driver was the first one we both saw and made it nice.

Since we arrived late in the evening we didn’t get to see much on our 30 minute drive to our accomodations. Our company has a nice guest house, thankfully with two newly installed air conditioners! I may be getting a little more used to Shenzhen’s summer humidity but there was no way I would be happy sleeping without a/c when the temps are 100+!

Am looking forward to the next 3 days, hopefully will have some time outside of the office. What is with the 30 minute time difference???

Hong Kong 7’s Weekend

442007-7s.jpg We had an awesome weekend in Hong Kong attending the 7’s, shopping and going out with some of the 20 or so colleagues of mine that were here from all over the world. Crazy doesn’t even begin to describe the people, the drunkness, the good games and the debates over the team Chinese Taipei.

The most incredible thing is how accepting my coworkers are of my partner. Over the past month Peyton has had the opportunity to meet a lot of different people from my company’s various offices and after this weekend I am pretty sure they will be keeping me around just because they like him so much.

April is off to an incredible start and life is awesome.
